• Helps the soil to aerate and retain moisture well: Shredded, loose soil will breathe better and retain moisture, creating a well-ventilated living environment for seeds/plants to grow and develop strongly.

Plowing Method:

It is a method of plowing and turning the soil over to dry, drying it as dry as possible. Because there are many toxic residues in rice fields that have just been harvested, sunlight will cause the toxins in the soil to decompose, radiate heat or transform into non-toxic substances. This method also decomposes indigestible organic compounds, forming simple soluble and volatile mineral compounds (called mineralization).

– Plowed soil must reach a depth of at least 15-20cm, the soil must be turned over to form furrows.

– Minimum drying time is 15 days. With infertile and degraded land, farmers can plow thinly and reverse plow again for better drying. The drier it is, the more effective it is.

Next, people add water to the dried soil. Dry, cracked soil will expand when exposed to water, soft and loose, making it easier for seeds/plants to stick to the soil. At this time, the soil is also restored with nutrients and minerals for rice plants and crops to absorb and grow.

Beam plowing method:

Is plowing the soil while the field is soaked in water. Before plowing, the field soil must be soaked in water for many days. Do not let the soil become wet or dry. Soil soaking reduces toxins in the soil and allows organic compounds to be dissolved.

The beam plowing method is often used for low-lying soils that are difficult to drain. Fields used to make beams must retain water. When conditions permit, the water can only be drained for drying after the summer rice crop has been harvested.  

Depending on the terrain, ecology, and crop conditions, farmers apply appropriate plowing and soil improvement methods. In areas with intensive crop growing conditions, in some places up to 3 rice crops a year, and frequent rain, beam plowing is most suitable. At the same time, it is necessary to prepare the soil thoroughly, especially plowing to help loosen the soil and reduce harmful toxins for plants.
